Oki,
On behalf of Council and all of Siksika Nation, it is my great honor to welcome our members, relatives, neighbors, friends, and visitors to the Siksika Nation Annual Powwow and Fair. This gathering is a celebration of who we are as a people. It is a time to come together in unity, to honor our ancestors, to celebrate our culture and traditions, and to recognize the strength and resilience that has carried our Nation forward through generations.
As we gather to dance, sing and engage with are friends and loved ones, we are reminded that our people have always found strength in one another. The songs, dances, laughter, and stories shared throughout this weekend connect us to our history while inspiring hope for the future. They remind us that our culture is alive, our language is strong, and our Nation continues to thrive.
To our dancers, singers, Elders, veterans, youth, volunteers, and organizers, thank you for the gifts and talents you bring to this celebration and your contribution to our community. Your dedication ensures that our traditions continue to be passed on to future generations.
To our visitors, we welcome you with open hearts. We are honored that you have joined us to experience the beauty of Siksika culture, hospitality, and community. We hope you leave with a deeper understanding of who we are and the values that guide us.
As we celebrate together, let us embrace hope, kindness, and respect. Let us lift one another up, strengthen old friendships, create new ones, and remember that our greatest strength lies in our people.
May this gathering bring joy to our families, pride to our Nation, and inspiration to all who attend. May the Creator bless our dancers, singers, travelers, and every family gathered here. May everyone enjoy a safe, memorable, and meaningful Powwow and Fair.
Welcome to Siksika Nation.
Oki, and thank you.
